Hair Report Explained

How Your Results Look

In this hair report explained, we’re looking at your results, which are broken down into various sections, and different potential sensitivities will be ranked using a traffic light system. This color scheme is accompanied by a percentage representing your level of potential sensitivity:

Items Marked Red

When an item has a red marker against it, this means that your test indicated a potentially high reaction to that item in particular. We advise you to avoid or completely remove this item and products containing it, from your diet during the 4 week elimination period.

Items Marked Amber

An amber marker indicates evidence of a moderate level of sensitivity to that particular item. You may want to consider also excluding or avoiding this item during your elimination diet.

Each item tested will also provide a percentage reaction, indicating the level of potential sensitivity, with 0% equalling no reaction at all and 100% being an item you are potentially highly sensitive towards.

The items will be held under the categories listed below. It will look something like this (keep in mind the different color sections will be of different lengths, depending on how many items fit into each section for you).

  • Food Items
  • Non-Food Items
  • Nutritional Imbalances

What Causes A Moderate or High Reaction?

A moderate or high reaction (amber or red marker) suggests a sensitivity to the item in question. This is not a cause for panic, as this is only a current high sensitivity, meaning it is likely to be temporary and may change over time. You can restore tolerance to the item by following the elimination diet and making use of the guidance in our exclusive 30 Day Aftercare Programme.

You may be surprised to see some of your favorite foods listed as moderate or high sensitivity items. A sensitivity can be caused by overexposure to or overconsumption of a particular substance. Again, by simply following an elimination diet, your body will detox and re-balance, which helps you restore your tolerance levels, so you can reintroduce the foods you enjoy.

If, after the 4 week elimination period, you still feel discomfort when consuming the item again, we would suggest you avoid them for an extra few weeks, reintroducing each item individually, to identify which food is still causing you issues.

Categories Explained

Food Intolerance Items

The first category reported is food items. This is fairly self-explanatory. In the food items section, are the foods reported as being potential sensitivities. If your report indicates a moderate or high sensitivity to any foods, we advise you to use an elimination diet to help restore your tolerance to these foods.

Non-Food Intolerance Items

This category includes inhalant and other non-food substances you may come into contact with, without consuming them orally (e.g., plants, trees, flowers, pollen, animals, molds, fibers, etc.). Monitoring your exposure to non-food items is often more challenging than eliminating foods from your diet, as many of them are in your environment and not under your direct control. Knowing your non-food sensitivities can help you control your exposure to these items to the extent that you can.

We understand it can be challenging to completely avoid contact with many of the items listed. Hence we recommend simply trying to reduce exposure to these items during the elimination period (e.g., avoid fields, don’t touch plants, dust and clean more regularly to remove dust and molds, ventilate rooms, hoover more often, don’t wear clothes containing fibers you’re sensitive to) and then slowly reintroduce yourself to the substances, upon completion.

If you are a pet owner and have learned that you are highly sensitive to your pet, PLEASE DON’T GET RID OF THEM. Instead, focus on eliminating your other high sensitivity items, and your body may very well re-balance itself. However, if you experience any severe allergic symptoms to any of the items in your report, we recommend one of our allergy tests and consulting your GP.

Please bear in mind that if you are highly sensitive to the non-food item (e.g., apple tree), it does NOT include the food item (apples). Food items are tested separately, and the level of sensitivity is displayed in the Food section. So, for example, in case of high sensitivity to “Apple Tree” in the non-food section, we recommend reducing contact with this particular tree and its pollen. You should still be fine to consume apples unless the food section shows otherwise (high sensitivity to it). And this applies vice versa.
